Focus on Optimal Eye Health
At Daniel Island Eye Care, we want to positively impact the community we value so highly. Your vision is inextricably linked to your overall health, so we employ our many years of experience to help you achieve optimal eye health now and long into the future.
With our diagnostic equipment and thorough eye exams, we gather an in-depth understanding of your ocular health, from how well you see to the inner structure of your eyes. We’re passionate about eye health and want to share that passion with our community!
The Patient Comes First
Attending regular, comprehensive eye exams can make an impact on preserving your vision. You’re in control of your eye care. Together, we can develop a plan for your optimal eye health.
We always take the time to explain everything we do and why so that your choices are based on knowledge and preference. After all, healthy vision goes beyond 20/20.
What Happens During an Eye Exam?
First of all, we follow the guidelines set out by the American Optometric Association, which recommends:
- Adults ages 18 to 64 have an eye exam every 2 years
- Adults 65 and older should have an eye exam every year
Several eye diseases can emerge without showing symptoms—but that’s where we come in. During your eye exam, we’ll use technology and comprehensive techniques to detect signs and indications of eye diseases and conditions.
Ultimately, we want to ensure your eyes see well and feel well. Learn more about what to expect during your appointment.
Meet & Greet
To start your appointment, we’ll have a little meet and greet, which includes filling out any necessary paperwork and having a face-to-face conversation with the optometrist about you.
We’ll ask about your personal and family medical history, any medications you’re taking, and any concerns about your vision that you may have. And, we’ll ask about your lifestyle and digital habits, so we can assess if you deal with digital eye strain.
In the Exam Room
To evaluate your overall eye health, we use diagnostic technology and in-depth techniques to determine the following items:
- Your visual acuity: the sharpness and clarity of your eyesight
- Any refractive errors: a type of vision issue that makes it hard to see clearly
- Your depth perception, color vision, and peripheral vision
- Eye focus and eye movement
- The pressure inside your eyes
- Signs of eye diseases like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and cataracts
Send-Off
Once we’ve had a thorough look at your eye health, inside and out, we’ll go over our findings with you. Your next steps could include further testing, a contact lens fitting, or dry eye treatment. On your way out, you can meet with our opticians to choose your favorite frames if you want to spruce up your style.
