Eye Conditions
- Glaucoma:
This is a disease characterized by increased pressure inside the eye. There are often no symptoms until damage has already been done to your vision. If left untreated, it can cause blindness by permanently damaging the optic nerve. If caught early there are therapies that may slow the progression of the damage.
- Macular Degeneration:
A degeneration of the part of the retina that is responsible for straight-on vision used for driving, reading, and recognizing faces. It is the most common cause of blindness in people over 50 years of age. Diabetic Retinopathy: A weakening of tiny blood vessels in the retina which can leak fluid into surrounding tissue causing blurred vision and severe vision loss associated with diabetes. Blindness can result if the condition is not treated in its early stages.
